April 2026 Newsletter

Spring is in full swing, and April has been a wonderful month for our school community. From lively outdoor celebrations to thoughtful pen-pal exchanges and important academic milestones, our students and families have given us so much to celebrate. Here's a look at what's been happening.

Color Fun Run at North Lewis

Our library's annual Color Fun Run fundraiser was a spectacular splash of joy this April! Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of our school community, this event brought students together for a day of laughter, entertainment, and — of course — color. The kids absolutely loved every moment, running through clouds of vibrant hues with huge smiles on their faces, playing in the foam, and sliming our principal.

We are so grateful to everyone who participated and contributed to support our library. Thank you to the volunteers, teachers, and Mrs Sarah Boatman, our NLE librarian.

Letters to the US National Parks

This month, our 3rd grade French Immersion class embarked on a wonderful cross-cultural learning adventure by writing to rangers at US National Parks. Eager to learn more about these incredible natural treasures, our students crafted thoughtful letters full of curiosity and enthusiasm. We are deeply touched that the rangers took the time to write back and share their knowledge with our class. A heartfelt thank you to every ranger who answered our students — your kindness and dedication made a lasting impression.

LEAP Testing Season

As LEAP testing gets underway for our 3rd through 6th graders, Les Amis wants to take a moment to encourage each and every one of our students. This is your chance to shine and show everything you have worked so hard to learn this year. We are incredibly proud of your effort and growth, and we know you are ready. Breathe, do your best, and remember — we believe in you every step of the way.

🍎 Teacher of the Month

This month, we are thrilled to shine the spotlight on our incredible 5th grade ELA and Social Studies teacher Ms Esther Legrier. With a gift for making both literature and history come alive in the classroom, this dedicated educator inspires students to think critically, express themselves confidently, and develop a genuine love of learning. We are so grateful to have such a wonderful teacher in our NLE family — thank you for everything you do!💙
