September 2025 Newsletter

A Month of Learning and New Beginnings!

September brought fresh opportunities for students and teachers to dive deeper into the French language and culture.

BINGO !

NLE welcomes the traditional Grandparents Bingo. Many grandparents and great-grandparents attended, and the kids were thrilled to share these memories with them.

Thank you to the volunteers for making this event possible.

Taoki is back

In 1st grade, students began learning to read in French using the Taoki reading method. This method was purchased by the school last year to support both students and teachers in the French reading curriculum. The 1st graders are familiar with it, as they used this method in Kindergarten with Mr. A and Madame Brigitte.

A Sweet Taste of France

During a quick trip to France, Madame Emilie, our third-grade teacher, used her Les Amis grant to purchase French-language books for her students. She also brought some French candies.

The kids are enjoying drawing their favorite animal and learn their name in French.

Silence ça pousse*

Ms. Emilie's first-grade class is planting radishes in science class to observe the conditions necessary for plant life. They will take a few days to see the first results and make their claims.

*Silence, it's growing

Les Amis supports the French Curriculum

Les Amis board has voted to purchase Lalilo, a software designed for teaching French, similar to Zearn or Lexia. This program will help students learn to read and understand French phonetics. Additionally, it will help teachers track students' progress.

Lalilo is intended for implementation in Kindergarten through 3rd grade.
